Addition to The Future of Civilizations: Global Forecast

At the round table session at the RF Permanent Mission to the UN on 10.10.2006 devoted the 100th birth anniversary of the of Nobel Prize winner in economics Wassily Leontieff a proposal was put forward in the report of B.N. Kuzyk and Yu.V. Yakovets 'Future of the World and Russia. A Manifesto of Integral Macro Forecasting' to renew under the UN the long-term global forecasting using the Wassily Leontieff modified model of the world economy.

This proposal was seconded by S.V. Lavrov, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his greeting and participants of the round table session.

A.G. Granberg, B.N. Kuzyk, Yu. V. Yakovets, V.I. Kushlin and A.I. Ageyev have framed the Concept for making the UN global forecast 'Future of Civilizations. A Forecast of Socio-Demographic, Energy-Ecological, Innovative-Technological and Geopolitical Dynamics of Civilizations for the Period Up to 2050 and delivered it to S.V. Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs in December 2006. Furthermore, the research programs by 8 sections of the global forecast, including the program for a long-tern forecast 'Socio-Cultural Future of Civilizations' were drawn up and submitted to the UNESCO Bureau of Strategic Planning on 20.04.2007.

During stay in Berlin on 16.04.2007 Yu.V. Yakovets met with the executives of the Koch-Mechnikov Forum Prof. Helmut Han regarding their involvement in working out the section of socio-cultural dynamics of civilizations.

In April 2007, A.G. Granberg, A.G. Kuzyk, B.N. Kushlin, Yu.V. Yakovets and A.T. Spitsyna addressed in their letter to N.A. Nazarbaev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a proposal to come forward with the initiative to the UN together with Russia for making a global forecast, take part in its preparation and financing.

At the meeting of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Promotion of Global Civilization in Peking 8-10.05.2007 it is anticipated to discuss the draft concept of the global forecast and to distribute a questionnaire form among its participants where it could be evaluated tendencies and outlooks for the development of civilization.

At the joint session of the Department for Cycle Studies and Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Social Sciences of the Board of Guardians and the Academic Council of the Pitirim Sorokin – Nikolai Kondratieff International Institute on 14.06.2007 it was scheduled to discuss the draft Concept for the UN global forecast 'Future of Civilizations' and individual sections of the program. We'll further update the progress of such forecast activities and deliver Internet-conference on its individual sections.
